The symposium will again take place at the auditorium of the University of Texas at Austin’s Blanton Museum of Art at 200 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

General registration is $150.00, but there are discounted fees for faculty ($100) and students ($50). Click here to register for ISOJ.

Fees have slightly increased to keep up with rising costs of putting on the conference. But, the registration costs for ISOJ still are far below comparable conferences.

The registration fee includes access to all the ISOJ sessions, breakfast, lunch and break snacks on both days. It also includes access to a special reception at the Blanton Museum Atrium on the evening of Friday, April 21, immediately after the last ISOJ session of the day.

This year, ISOJ participants are invited to have lunch at the Tejas Restaurant of the AT&T Conference Center, located within walking distance from the conference venue.

The lineup of speakers and the full program of ISOJ 2017 will be announced soon.

ISOJ is an annual conference organized by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. Major support to ISOJ comes from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Other sponsors of ISOJ 2017 include Google, The Dallas Morning News, Open Society Foundations and Univision News.

Top journalists, media executives, researchers and academics from around the U.S. and the globe will attend the conference to discuss the latest trends, issues and innovations in online journalism.

ISOJ consistently brings in expert speakers who talk about the transformational impact of digital technology on journalism. Topics of previous symposia have included changing business models, news formats, audience development and engagement, reporting tools, ethics, mobile and more.

In addition to news industry panels, ISOJ has a research component which attracts scholars from around the world. Each year, the official research journal of the symposium, #ISOJ, is launched during the event, eliminating the usual gap between research presentation in conferences and publication.

A limited print edition of #ISOJ journal is available, but multimedia versions featuring video, interactive graphics and more will be published online. Articles in the journal are peer-reviewed by a blind review panel of researchers from prestigious international universities. Each year, a submission period opens in the Fall to accept research papers. That period recently ended on Jan. 6.

For information about past ISOJ symposia, please explore our new site at isoj.org. You will find video, transcripts, slides, research and news articles for each year of ISOJ going back to 1999.

More than 400 people from 41 countries registered for our conference last year, and seats filled quickly, so register now! And once you do, please visit our post about hotel accommodations.
